I used to do customer service for a major US healthcare incurance company and I noticed that there aren’t any participating hospitals outside the US, especially in Asia. I am aware of the booming medical tourism trend going on in certain parts of Asia and as far as I know, they are not covered by US Insurance. I could be wrong, though. How far into the future do you think these US companies will open its doors to get participating providers outside US, and if there are such companies doing that now, which companies are these and what countries do they cover?

Certain US insurances are accepted by hospitals in the Philippines (i.e., Blue Cross covers you at St. Lukes). No, I do not think there will any US companies that will specifically go after the medical tourism market because (1) usually if someone is travelling overseas for surgery, it is due to lower cost and/or a procedure not covered by insurance and (2) it would be very hard to control fraud cases.
Life insurance with cash value don’t pay out cash value when you die! They say its a good way to build savings! How is that so if you lose it all and it doesn’t go to anyone when you die? People say you can borrow it. Why do I want to borrow my own money that I paid for? Cash value = scams!
The problem is, there aren’t any US controls of the fees and services in other countries.
So, no, they don’t . . to answer your question . . . and when will it happen? Not until we have one world government.
