To get my visa for France, I am required to show that my insurance covers me while I am in France. If i get a travel insurance policy that covers my medical bills, will that count toward my visa?

The travel insurance police would not help; French consular officers do not take the time to read through the “small printed” terms and conditions of an insurance policy. They require you to provide a written statement by the insurance company that your insurance covers the Schengen visa requirements:
• must be valid for all Schengen countries

• must be valid during the time of your visit
• must include medical treatment and hospitalization
• must include emergency repatriation flights
• must cover at least €30,000 [~$44,000]http://www.consulfrance-washington.org/s… ..
Yes it will.
