Eye Infection? Should I See A Doctor? Medical Adice Please!?

My eye started out being swollen on the upper lid on the outside corner. I accidentely yanked out an eyelash in that corner the night before. The next day it got even worse and started inching a little. Today I woke up and now it’s doing the same thing on the lower lid and if this keeps up it will be swollen shut by tomorrow. I don’t have drainage or reddness on the eye itself, just reddnes on the lids. I also have soreness on the top and lower lid. Since this seemed to have traveled to the lower lid do I have an infection? I would go to a clinic but it’s the holiday weekend and I will not be able to see one until tuesday. The only option I have left is the emergency room and the copay for that is $100 with my insurance. Should I go to the ER or just wait it out? Medical employee advice are greatly appreciated.

It’s hard to say without seeing it, when it’s your eye your really best getting it checked out, it may be something as simple as a stye but better safe then sorry

I have to agree with nursej. It’s so easy to have eye issues cause permanent damage and even though this may not be anything serious. it would be awful to let it go and have it be something serious.
Could it be an allergic reaction (the itching?) Have you tried taking an antihistamine and seeing if that helped?

Why not go to a regular doctor, with a regular appointment. Wouldn’t the co-pay be cheaper than the ER? Either way, you’re suffering and you more than likely need an antibiotic, and you may even be contagious. Please go to the doctor. Feel better.

Infections can cause blindness in certain cases…only a doc can tell. Is the wait worth the risk?
BTW, I am blind in one eye due to an eye infection.
