My soon to be adopted daughter has to be transported 400 miles one way right now for the next 6-8 weeks to have a birth defect in her feet taken care of.
This costs us $200.00 a week.
I know this won’t go on for ever but right now it is causing a real financial strain.
Who can a person get to help with this expense.
I have the medical insurance to cover those expenses.
I stay in the ronald mcdonald house in the city where we get help.
It is just the fuel costs that are eating me up.

Lisha has a good suggestion. You can also ask the social worker at the hospital where your daughter will be getting care, or even the case manager at your insurance company. They often know of programs that may be of help.
The only other thing I can say is…Welcome to Parenthood.
If you are a church member you could ask if they could help and you should definitely check with the hospital/medical center because even if they don’t have a program to help you they should know where to look. Also, this doesn’t help immediately, but some travel expenses for medical reasons are tax deductible.
When my child had to have medical treatment out of state,we asked the Human Resources dept. at the hospital if they had a program to help with our fuel cost, and they did,so you may want to start there.Hope this helps, and that your child is o.k!
Some churches and religious charities are also likely to help.
