I Need To Get An Id Card. Can The Dmv Send Someone To My Home If I Cannot Leave It Due To Medical Reasons?

i have panic disorder and i am not able to travel more than a few blocks without getting attacks. when i was laid off, i lost my medical insurance and could no longer get therapy for the disorder. i was told that the DMV could send someone to your home to take your picture and get fingerprints for the id card if medical reasons did not permit you from going to the office in person. is this true? i called the DMV twice, the first time the lady didn’t know anything about it and the second time i called i was put on hold until the call was dropped. any info is greatly appreciated. thanks.

  1. neuve1 says:

The rules for obtaining an ID card differ from state to state. Some require that you take a little test and pass a vision test while others do not.
Now just suppose the answer to your question is yes they will come to your home in certain circumstances you would probably still have to talk to them on the phone wouldn’t you? So a whole two phone calls to a state office is not a great lot so keep on trying as the old saying goes “if at first you don’t succeed try try again” Good Luck!
