All required forms were submitted by mid February. These included an MD certificate and medical info release. Is that the usual for: “cancel for any reason” insurance?

There is no such thing as “cancel for any reason” insurance. Even the best policies have non-covered exclusions. That being said, you should give it about 60 days before worry. Of course you can always contact them to “make sure” they have your forms. The squeaky wheel…
